Turning Point K9

For Megan Weaver, dog training has never been about creating the “perfect” dog—it’s about understanding the dog in front of you and helping them become the most confident, capable version of themselves.

Growing up with Dobermans gave Megan an early appreciation for sensitive, expressive dogs and the importance of structure, communication, and clear expectations. As an adult, her first rescue dog challenged much of what she thought she knew about training and taught her one of the lessons that continues to shape her approach today: train the dog you have, not the dog you expected them to be.

Over the years, dogs with vastly different personalities, challenges, and abilities continued to shape Megan as a trainer. A steady Shepherd/Lab mix became her adventure partner, farm dog, and eventually an invaluable helper while rehabilitating other dogs. Later, Coco—a young Belgian Malinois who arrived with severe fear aggression and very little training—pushed Megan's skills even further.

Through patience, consistency, structure, and trust, Coco developed into an extraordinary working partner. Her transformation reinforced Megan's belief that challenging behaviors don't define a dog and that incredible potential can emerge when we learn to understand and appropriately channel a dog's natural instincts.

Today, Megan's passion lies especially with puppies, rescue dogs, fearful or insecure dogs, and dogs struggling with challenging behaviors. She loves helping owners better understand their dogs while giving those dogs the skills and confidence they need to experience more of the world.

Her training philosophy combines positive reinforcement with fair, consistent boundaries, appropriate exercise and enrichment, and an emphasis on building a strong relationship between dog and handler. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method, training is adapted to the individual dog's temperament, needs, motivation, and goals.

For Megan, training isn't simply about obedience.

It's about creating dogs who can do more, experience more, and enjoy more freedom because they have the skills to successfully navigate the world around them.

That philosophy fits naturally into the mission behind Versatile K9: creating more opportunities for dogs and their people to learn, explore, build confidence, try new things, and discover just how much they're capable of together.
