Versatile K9 started with a simple idea: dog activities, enrichment, and sports should be more accessible.
Like many dog owners, we loved the concept of private, secure spaces where dogs could run, explore, and just be dogs. But as people with multi-dog households and busy schedules, we found that membership fees, per-dog pricing, and limited options could quickly make those experiences difficult or expensive to access.
We knew we couldn’t be the only ones.
We wanted a place that worked for the person with five dogs just as well as the person with one. A place where reactive or nervous dogs could experience the world without the pressure of unfamiliar dogs or people. A place where owners could give their dogs a real adventure while still having the peace of mind that comes with a securely fenced space.
And, as luck would have it, we had the space.
It Started With a Field
With beautiful open acreage sitting largely unused, we decided to turn part of our property into private Adventure Zones and share it with the dog community around us.
What started as a simple idea quickly showed us just how much of a need there was for accessible, dog-centered spaces.
People wanted somewhere to exercise their dogs. Somewhere to train. Somewhere to let their reactive dog decompress. Somewhere to bring the whole pack without paying for every individual dog. Somewhere to explore, play, sniff, run, and enjoy their dogs without worrying about who might come around the corner.
Seeing that response made us start asking:
What else could we build?
From Adventure Zones to Something Bigger
In August 2025, we welcomed an incredible litter of German Shepherd × Belgian Malinois puppies into the world. As they grew, so did our interests.
Dock diving. Flyball. Agility. Lure coursing. FAST CAT. Training. Enrichment. Working dogs. Dog sports of every kind.
There was just one problem: access.
For many activities, we found ourselves looking at drives of two hours or more—sometimes just to practice. Other activities simply weren't readily available in our area at all.
The more we explored the dog sport world, the more obvious it became that our community needed something closer.
So the vision for Versatile K9 grew again.
The Vision
Our goal is to build a one-stop destination for dog people.
Not just for seasoned competitors. Not just for working dogs. Not just for perfectly social dogs.
For everyone.
For the family wanting to try their first dog sport. For the handler chasing their next title. For the reactive dog who deserves adventures too. For the multi-dog household looking for affordable enrichment. For trainers who need space to work with clients. For puppies learning about the world and senior dogs who still love a good sniff.
Next on our list is a full-sized dock and pool for dock diving, with plans to eventually host NADD events.
And we're nowhere near finished.
Our plans for Versatile K9 include additional forested Adventure Zones, an indoor Adventure Zone, agility equipment, obstacle courses, flyball, lure coursing and FAST CAT opportunities, and even more ways for dogs and their people to play, train, explore, and learn together.
We also envision a storefront filled with carefully selected dog foods, treats, toys, training equipment, sport gear, and other products—combining brands dog owners already know and love with products from small businesses that deserve a place to shine.
More Than a Facility
Ultimately, Versatile K9 isn't about building a bunch of dog activities on one property.
It's about building a community.
We want to make it easier for people to try something new with their dogs. To find activities they both love. To meet other dog people. To train, compete, learn, explore, and have fun without feeling like they need to already know what they're doing to belong.
